Efco Crimp Beads Ø 2.0 mm – for Securing Beads and Clasps

Efco Metallschmelz crimp beads in real gold plating are part of the basic kit for jewellery making. You use them to fix beads in place on the thread and to attach clasps to jewellery cord or jewellery wire. The pack contains 100 pieces, each with a diameter of 2.0 mm. The contents will see you through several necklaces and bracelets, and the gold colour matches gold-plated clasps and spacers.

The crimp beads are also available in Ø 1.0 mm. Which size you choose depends on the thickness of your thread or wire: the thread must pass easily through the bead.

Attaching a clasp

Thread a crimp bead onto the thread or wire, then the loop of the clasp. Pass the end back through the crimp bead and pull the loop tight so that it does not sit loosely. Now squeeze the bead flat with pliers. Then check with a gentle tug that it is held firmly. Cut the thread end short or thread it through one or two neighbouring beads as well. For a trial, it is best to use a piece of leftover thread first, so that you can judge the pressure needed with the pliers.
