Magnets, magnetic sheets and magnetic tape for crafts

Magnets in different shapes and strengths

Magnets are versatile for crafting and everyday use: for family photos on the fridge, as closures on bags, pouches or wallets, on magnetic boards or for moving parts in games and decorations. The range includes round, ring and bar magnets, versions with holes, plus magnetic sheets and tape.

Which shape suits which purpose

Holding strength depends on size, material and thickness, and on the distance to the metal surface: the thicker the layer in between, the weaker the hold. A weak model is enough for photos on the fridge, while closures or heavier objects need more holding power. Check the details for each product and pay particular attention to the manufacturer's warnings with small, strong pieces.

• Round magnets to glue onto homemade fridge decorations
• Ring magnets and versions with holes for screwing on or threading
• Bar magnets for experiments, games and as holders
• Magnetic sheets to cut to size for flat designs and signs
• Magnetic tape to cut to length and stick on directly

Tip: The best way to separate strong magnets is to slide them apart sideways rather than pulling them apart. Also keep them away from cards with magnetic strips and sensitive electronics.
