Drawing pads and sketchbooks for school and hobbies
Drawing paper has a big influence on the result, whether for quick ideas in a sketchbook, exercises in art class or finished illustrations. Here you'll find drawing paper, drawing pads and sketchbooks for pencil, ink and markers and, depending on paper weight, also for watercolor and mixed media, including from Hahnemühle, Canson and Clairefontaine.
How to find the right drawing paper
The surface determines how a tool behaves: smooth paper suits fine lines with pencil, fineliner and ink, while paper with a noticeable tooth takes charcoal, pastel and colored pencil better. For markers, dense, smooth paper makes sense so the ink doesn't bleed through. For watercolor and wet techniques, paper weight matters; paper around 300 g/m² is often recommended so it buckles less. Toned or black paper is a good choice for work with white highlights or light-colored pencils.
- Sketchbooks and pads in A5, A4, A3 and other sizes
- Spiral pads, stapled drawing books and softcover sketchbooks
- Paper in natural white, cappuccino tones and black
- Versions for school, college and urban sketching
Tip: For urban sketching, a sketchbook with a hard cover is handy because it gives you a stable surface even without a table. With spiral binding, it also opens flat and folds back.
