Hahnemühle Bamboo Sketch Paper – Bamboo Fibre Sketch Pad for Pencil, Charcoal and Sanguine
Hahnemühle Bamboo sketch paper is a sketch pad of 30 natural white sheets for drawing with pencil, charcoal and sanguine. The paper weighs 105 g/m² and is made of 90% bamboo and 10% cotton fibres. According to Hahnemühle, bamboo grows back quickly. The surface is finely textured with a good tooth, so dry media adhere well to the sheet and you can place lines precisely.
The pad is glued along one edge. The paper is acid-free and ageing-resistant, so your sketches do not yellow as quickly. The pad comes in three sizes, which you choose from the options.
What the pad is suited to
According to Hahnemühle, the toothy surface works well for sketching and drawing with pencil, charcoal and sanguine. The warm natural white tone looks less glaring than pure white paper and shows off the contrasts of pencil or charcoal well. If you use charcoal or sanguine, a fixative protects the finished drawing from smudging.
Which size to choose
The pad comes in A5 (14.8 × 21 cm), A4 (21 × 29.7 cm) and A3 (29.7 × 42 cm), each with 30 sheets. A5 fits in a bag for sketching on the go. A4 and A3 give you more room for studies, figure drawings or landscape sketches.
