Wooden Ruler with Metal Edge – 20, 30 or 40 cm

This wooden ruler is made of beech and has an inset metal strip. You measure and draw as with any ruler, but you can also cut along the metal edge with a craft knife or scalpel without nicking the wood. The ruler is suitable for school, office and craft projects, such as cutting paper, coloured card or thin cardboard.

Cutting cleanly along the metal edge

• Place a cutting mat or sturdy cardboard underneath to protect the blade and the table.
• Press the ruler down firmly with your fingers spread and keep your fingers away from the cutting edge.
• Always run the blade along the metal side – on the wooden edge it would cut into the ruler.
• For thicker card, make several light cuts rather than one heavy one.

Choosing the length

The 20 cm version is enough for small cuts such as cards or labels. With 30 cm you cover the long side of an A4 sheet (29.7 cm). Use the 40 cm ruler for longer cuts and lines on larger sheets.
