Royal Talens WASCO Wax Crayons, Set of 6

Royal Talens WASCO Wax Crayons – 6 Colours for Paper, Wood and Stone

The Royal Talens WASCO wax crayon set contains 6 sturdy wax crayons for school and home in yellow, light red, light green, light blue, reddish brown and black. The formula is water-based. According to the manufacturer, the crayons are hard enough not to break easily in children's hands, yet still release colour well. The paper wrappers keep hands clean. All Wasco colours comply with the European standard for toy safety.

You can use them on paper, card, wood, textiles and stone, including craft card, wooden discs and pebbles.

Wax resist and scratch techniques

Wax and water-based ink repel each other. For the wax resist technique, first draw with the crayons, pressing firmly so that enough wax stays on the paper. Then paint over it with diluted Talens Ecoline using a brush: the waxed areas stay clear, and the ink only colours the paper beside them. For the scratch technique, lay down areas of colour with the crayons and apply Talens Deckschwarz over them. Once dry, scratch into the surface and the colours underneath show through.

Set of 6 or set of 12?

The 6 colours in this set make a clear, simple start. According to the manufacturer, the WASCO set of 12 also includes white, orange, purple and dark blue, among others.
