Caran d'Ache 849™ PREMIUM Black Code Mechanical Pencil, 0.7 mm

Caran d'Ache 849 PREMIUM Black Code – matt black mechanical pencil with 0.7 mm lead

The Caran d'Ache 849 PREMIUM Black Code mechanical pencil is a propelling pencil with 0.7 mm HB lead for writing and taking notes. The barrel, clip and push button are all finished in matt black. The hexagonal aluminium barrel is light and hard-wearing, and sits firmly in the hand.

The flexible metal clip holds the pencil securely on a notebook, shirt pocket or document folder. The mechanical pencil is made in Switzerland (Swiss Made) and comes in a glossy slimpack with a magnetic closure.

Use and changing the lead

Use the push button to advance the lead bit by bit. Only push it out as far as you need for writing, as a lead that sticks out too far breaks more easily under pressure. The eraser for small corrections sits under the metal push button. Once you have removed the button, you can reach the compartment in the end for spare leads of Ø 0.7 mm.

Which lead fits?

The pencil comes fitted with an HB lead, a medium hardness for writing and notes. Graphite leads of Ø 0.7 mm are available as replacements in HB or in B (pack of 12). B is softer and draws darker, while HB keeps a clean line even when writing for longer.
