Rayher beige warp thread, 0.8 mm – for warping a weaving loom

You can use Rayher's fine warp thread to warp a weaving loom. The beige thread has a diameter of 0.8 mm, is made of 100 % cotton and is 6-ply twisted. According to Rayher, it is strong and tear-resistant, which matters for taut warp threads.

The reel holds 220 m, so you can plan the quantity for your project easily. The thread is unwaxed and hand washable up to 30 °C.

Warping the loom

Tie the thread to the frame and run it alternately up and down over the notches or nails. Keep the tension even: if the warp threads are too loose, the weaving will turn out wavy. Threads pulled too tight can distort the frame. To work out how much you need, multiply the length of the warp threads by their number and allow some extra for the start, the end and knots.

Other uses for the thread

According to Rayher, the thread is suitable for weaving and macramé, for crochet and as a simple craft or gift ribbon. At 0.8 mm it is thinner than the 1.0 mm white warp thread from the same range. A thinner warp thread allows closer warp threads and therefore a finer weave.
