Latex moulds for nativity figures – 8 designs to cast yourself

With this Graine Créative set, you cast figures for your own Christmas nativity scene. It contains 8 moulds made of soft latex in the designs Mary, Joseph, baby Jesus, ox, donkey and the three wise men. You can fill them with plaster, ceramic powder or concrete.

Once the casting has set, the soft latex peels off the figure easily, and the moulds are reusable. This lets you add to your nativity scene piece by piece or cast figures in several colours and finishes.

Casting the figures

Mix the casting compound according to the manufacturer's instructions and pour it slowly into the mould. Then tap the mould gently so that air bubbles rise and the details of the figure come out cleanly. Let the compound set completely before you remove the mould. The soft latex gives way, so you can ease it carefully off the figure without tearing it. Afterwards you can paint the figures.

Good to know

Latex is soft, so a filled mould can tip over easily. Stand it securely while casting, for example in a container or a bed of sand. The set does not include support holders for standing the moulds. Once you have used a mould for plaster, concrete or other casting compounds, do not use it for food again.
