Rico Design silicone bead mould mix – cast your own beads from resin

The Rico Design silicone bead mould mix is a soft mould for casting your own beads from epoxy resin, UV Resin Soft or UV resin. One mould gives you three bead shapes: diamonds, cylinders and cubes. You can combine different shapes from a single casting set for necklaces and other jewellery.

The silicone is soft. According to Rico Design, the fully cured casting can be removed from the mould easily and without leaving residue. This also makes the mould practical for several casts in a row.

Casting the beads

Place the mould on a flat, stable surface so that the resin sits level in the cavities. Mix the resin exactly as the resin manufacturer instructs, colour it if needed and pour it slowly into the cavities of your choice.

• Pour evenly and do not overfill the cavity, so the edges stay clean.
• Let any rising air bubbles escape, or remove them with a cocktail stick before curing.
• Only demould once the resin has cured completely; the bead will then come away without residue.

Choosing the right mould

This mould is a good choice if you need beads in several shapes for one project. If you only want one shape, such as round or cylindrical beads, Rico Design has separate moulds for those. Once you have used a mould for casting resin, do not use it for food again.
