Rayher brush mat – work surface for needle felting

You place the Rayher brush mat for needle felting (art. no. 5322900) under your work while you felt. The felting needle passes through the wool into the bristles instead of hitting the hard tabletop. The mat is handy in size and can be used again and again.

Rayher gives art. no. 5322700 as the matching felting tool. The mat also works with individual felting needles.

Working with the mat

Lay the mat flat on the table and place the wool or your piece on top. Insert the felting needle vertically and pull it out vertically too, as tilting it sideways can break the fine needle. Lift the piece briefly from time to time and turn it so that no fibres get stuck in the bristles. Felting needles are very sharp: keep your fingers out of the stabbing area and hold the wool well away from the needle.

The 6.5 × 9 cm work surface suits small figures, jewellery, appliqués and details that you hold in your hand and keep turning. Larger areas are felted in sections, moving the mat as you go.
