Rayher clear rigid PVC film – self-adhesive on one side, for lampshades

Rayher rigid PVC film is a crystal-clear film, 0.3 mm thick, with a self-adhesive surface on one side. It comes as a 1 m long sheet, 60 cm wide. It is often used for making lampshades.

The protective backing carries a square grid. You can use it as a cutting guide and cut the film to size without needing a separate ruler.

Working with the film

Draw the shape on the protective backing along the grid lines and cut out the film with the backing facing up. A craft knife with a ruler on a cutting mat gives you clean, straight edges. Peel off the protective backing only once the pieces have been cut and you are ready to attach them. Touch the adhesive surface as little as possible so that no fingerprints show. For a lampshade, keep a sufficient distance from the light source, as plastic does not tolerate heat.
