Fridolin 3D Paper Model Tarantula – Model Kit Made of Laser-Cut Cardboard Parts
The Fridolin 3D paper model tarantula is a kit of laser-cut cardboard parts that you slot together, without scissors, to make an animal model. Once built, the spider measures approx. 8.5 × 2.5 × 8.5 cm (W/H/D) and works as a decorative piece for a shelf or desk. The kit belongs to Fridolin's "Natural Museum Collection" series, so you can gradually build up a small collection.
Building it calls for concentration, patience and nimble fingers. Fridolin recommends the model from 8 years. An illustration and the assembly instructions are included in the pack.
Building the model
The parts are designed to slot together, and glue is not strictly necessary. First read the assembly instructions and compare the parts with the illustration. Only press out the cardboard parts when you need them, so you keep track of everything. Slot the parts together in the order given in the instructions and do not force them in, so the cardboard does not bend.
With or without glue
According to the manufacturer, the model can also be fixed with glue. This can make sense if the spider is to stay in place permanently as a decorative piece. Apply the glue sparingly and only in small spots, so the cardboard does not soften.
