Rayher borosilicate glass suncatchers – rainbow light reflections at your window

The Rayher suncatcher set contains 2 borosilicate glass balls for hanging at a window. When sunlight hits the glass, it is refracted and lots of little rainbows appear in the room. According to Rayher, the glass does not tarnish.

A 3 m length of nylon thread is included in the set, so you can get started straight away. The balls measure around 3 × 3.5 cm and, according to the manufacturer, can be combined with other decorative elements.

Hanging the suncatchers

Cut the thread into pieces to suit the height of your window and attach each ball with a secure knot. Then hang them from the window frame, a hook or a curtain rail. The rainbows only appear in direct sunlight and move around the room with the position of the sun, so a spot at a sunny window is worthwhile. Bear in mind that glass balls can focus light: make sure that easily flammable items such as curtains or paper are not in the beam of light.

Decorating and combining

With the 3 m of thread, you can hang the two balls at different heights and create a small mobile at your window. With other decorative elements such as beads or pendants, it becomes a longer window garland.
