White lantern lid with base – a starting point for homemade lanterns

The white lantern lid with base (cheese box) is a starting point for homemade lanterns, for example for St Martin's Day. It consists of a closed base and a top part with an opening. At Ø 110 mm and 30 mm high, it is intended for smaller lanterns. A lantern stick fits into the opening, or you can fit a light there.

You can paint, decorate or otherwise customise the plain white surface. It works just as well at nursery, at school or at home.

Making your lantern

It is best to decorate the base and lid before you assemble the lantern. That way you can easily reach all the surfaces. Leave the opening in the top part free when sticking things on, so that the lantern stick or light will fit in later. As a light source in homemade lanterns, LED lights are the safer choice compared with a naked flame.

Which size?

At Ø 110 mm you get a compact lantern that is easy to hold, even for small hands. If you need more room for motifs or tracing paper, the same lantern lid with base is also available in Ø 150 x 30 mm.
