Papier-mâché skull – blank to decorate and paint

The papier-mâché skull is a blank to decorate and paint, for Halloween decorations or your own craft projects, for example. At approx. 105 × 65 × 70 mm, it is a handy size and also fits on a shelf or in a group of decorations.

As the skull is untreated, you can design it however you like: painted in colour, covered with paper or decorated with napkins.

Decorating the skull

Papier-mâché absorbs paint and moisture. First coat the blank with gesso or opaque acrylic paint so that the colours look even later. Let each layer dry thoroughly before you continue. For decoupage, apply the glue thinly and smooth the paper or napkins from the centre outwards so that no creases are left. The curves of the forehead and cheeks are best covered with small pieces of paper.
