Revell Airbrush Basic Set – beginner kit with compressor and paints

The Revell Airbrush Basic Set (art. no. 39199) is a complete beginner kit for airbrushing: a mini compressor with power adapter, a spray gun with air hose, two Aqua Color paints and the accessories for mixing and cleaning all come in a plastic case. The compressor works at 1 bar operating pressure and supplies compressed air continuously, so you don't need spray cans or an air cylinder.

The metal spray gun works on the single-action principle with internal mixing and a 0.5 mm nozzle. With the compressor switched on, air flows constantly from the nozzle, and you control the amount of paint with the lever, which you pull back. You therefore don't have to control the air supply as well. That keeps things simple when you start out, for example for smooth gradients, even base coats or painting models.

Getting started with the set

The paints need to be thinned for use in the spray gun. The set includes mixing jars, pipettes and the Aqua Color Mix for this.

• Put paint into the mixing jar with the pipette and thin it in small steps with Aqua Color Mix until it is thin enough to flow through the nozzle.
• Connect the hose to the compressor and the spray gun, then switch on the compressor.
• Test on scrap paper how distance and lever travel affect line width and coverage.
• Only then paint your model or workpiece.

Cleaning and choosing

Rinse the spray gun through straight after painting so the paint doesn't dry in the nozzle. You can remove dried paint residue with the Aqua Color Clean. The set suits you if you first want to find out whether airbrushing is for you. For the finest lines and infinitely variable air control there are double-action guns, which take more practice, however.
