With this etching needle set you scratch and etch fine lines on surfaces such as plastic and metal. The set contains a 130 mm etching needle holder with a screw chuck and 5 interchangeable etching needles: 3 pointed / angled and 2 square.

The tips are hardened. This means they keep their shape even with frequent use and give an even line. Because the needles are interchangeable, you can change the tip shape without changing the tool.

Working with the holder

Loosen the screw chuck, insert a needle and tighten the chuck again. The needle should protrude only as far as you need for the line, as a short projection guides the tip more steadily. Draw the lines with even, moderate pressure. For deeper lines, it is better to go over the same track several times than to press hard once: the needle is then less likely to slip.

Which needle for what?

The pointed and angled needles are suited to fine lines and details. The square needles give a different line. Try the shapes first on an offcut of the material, so you can see which line you get. Store the holder with a needle inserted so that nobody can touch the sharp tip, and keep unused needles separately.
