Rayher Fretsaw Set with Gimlet and Plywood Board

Rayher Fretsaw Set in a Wooden Box – Everything You Need to Start Fretsawing

The Rayher fretsaw set contains a saw frame, saw blades, a sawing table, a clamp, a gimlet and a plywood board. With it you can cut out figures, shapes and small decorative pieces from thin wood. According to Rayher, the set is intended for beginners, as it includes all the tools and materials needed for fretsawing.

The plywood board measures 30 × 20 cm. You can start on your first design straight away without buying extra material. Everything comes in a wooden box, where you can store the set between projects.

Sawing with the set

Place the plywood board on the sawing table and draw your design on it in pencil. Fix the table to a sturdy edge of a worktable using the clamp so the wood does not slip while you saw. For cut-outs inside the design, first drill a starting hole with the gimlet, thread the blade through it and clamp it back into the saw frame. Saw with steady, long strokes and let the saw do the work. Too much pressure or twisting the saw will quickly snap thin blades. Finish by sanding the edges smooth with fine sandpaper.

What the set is suited to

You can use the set for craft projects, small model-making parts or home-sawn gift tags and figures made from thin wood. If you need more material, simply buy extra plywood.
