STABILO woody 3 in 1 starter set – colouring pencil, watercolour and wax crayon in one
The STABILO woody 3 in 1 starter set of 4 contains four thick pencils in yellow, red, dark green and blue. Each pencil is a colouring pencil, watercolour and wax crayon in one. You can draw dry like a colouring pencil, blend the colour with a damp brush for watercolour effects, or apply it boldly and opaquely like a wax crayon.
According to STABILO, the lead covers well and intensely, even on dark paper and card. It has a diameter of 10 mm, is break-resistant and contains eight times as much colour as an ordinary colouring pencil. That helps when you colour in larger areas. According to STABILO, the thick, round shape is particularly easy for children to hold.
Which surfaces does the woody work on?
As well as paper and card, you can use the woody on smooth surfaces such as glass, metal, plastic and glazed ceramic. According to STABILO, the colour wipes off glass very easily with water. This usually works on other smooth, non-absorbent surfaces too, but test how well it washes off in an inconspicuous spot first.
Using the three techniques
With just four colours, you can create in-between shades by layering colours and blending them with a wet brush.
- Colouring pencil: draw dry and layer several times for hatching or filled areas
- Watercolour: apply colour and blend with a damp brush; if you use a lot of water, choose thicker paper so that it does not buckle
- Wax crayon: press firmly for rich, opaque areas, even on dark paper
- Window picture: draw a motif on the glass pane and remove it later with water
