Copic Ciao Marker Set Basic – 12 double-ended alcohol markers

The Copic Ciao Marker Set Basic contains 12 double-ended alcohol-based markers for illustrations, scribbles and storyboards. Each marker has a Super Brush nib and a Medium Broad nib. According to Copic, both nibs correspond to the specifications of Copic Sketch markers. The set comes in an acrylic display and is a good way to get started with Copic markers.

The colour selection covers black and shades of blue, green, yellow, orange, red, pink, violet and brown. You can mix areas of colour and gradients from just a few pens.

Working with the two nibs

The brush nib responds to the pressure of your hand: with light pressure you draw fine lines, with more pressure broader strokes and soft transitions. The medium broad nib is intended for even areas of colour and straight edges. Alcohol ink bleeds easily through thin paper, so place a sheet underneath as a backing. Press the caps firmly back on after use so the nibs do not dry out.

Refilling and changing nibs

Ciao markers are refillable and have replaceable nibs. According to Copic, each Copic Ink refill can refill a Ciao up to 9 times, at approx. 1.4 ml per refill. This keeps your favourite colours in use for longer.

Set or single markers?

The 12 colours of the Basic set are a basic range. The Ciao set of 24 colours offers more choice, with a different selection of colours. If you are missing a colour later, you can also buy Ciao markers individually.
