Copic Ciao Marker Set of 24 Colours – Dual Markers for Illustration and Scribbles

The Copic Ciao marker set contains 24 double-ended alcohol-based markers for illustrations, scribbles and storyboards. Each marker has two nibs: a super brush nib and a medium broad nib. According to the manufacturer, both nibs match the specifications of the Copic Sketch markers. The ink is an alcohol-based dye ink. It dries quickly and does not smudge.

The 24 colours are a basic selection: besides blues, greens, yellows, oranges and reds, the set includes black, a grey (C3) and four beige to brown shades (E00, E21, E29, E37). You can use them to lay out sketches, figures and landscapes without needing a large collection straight away. If you later find you are missing a colour, you can add it as a single marker. The set comes in an acrylic display.

Working with the Ciao markers

With the brush nib you draw lines of varying width and fill small areas. With the medium broad nib you cover larger areas evenly. Alcohol ink bleeds through paper easily, so place a sheet underneath and use marker paper or smooth, dense paper where possible. For blends, apply the lighter colour first and lay the darker one into the still-wet area. This lets the two shades merge softly. Do not linger too long in one spot, or a dark patch will remain. Replace the cap straight after drawing so that the nib does not dry out.

Refilling and changing nibs

According to the manufacturer, the Ciao markers are long-lasting, refillable and have replaceable nibs. One refill takes approx. 1.4 ml of ink. Each bottle of Copic Ink refills a Ciao up to 9 times. This lets you keep a favourite shade for a long time without having to replace the whole marker.
