Sakura Gelly Roll White Bold – opaque highlights on dark paper

The set contains 3 Sakura Gelly Roll gel pens in white with a Bold 10 tip. The opaque white gel ink draws lines and accents on dark and coloured paper, for example in illustrations, comics, hand lettering, party crafts or as the top layer of colour in mixed-media work.

The ball measures 1.0 mm and draws a line width of 0.5 mm. That is enough for bold, clearly visible lines without needing to press hard: according to the manufacturer, the ink flow stays constant even without pressure on the pen. The gel ink contains water-based pigment, and according to the manufacturer the colours never fade.

Using white effectively

White gel pens show up best on a dark background, where the ink is opaque and stands out. Typical uses are highlights in tonal drawings, outlines and shadow effects in comics, accents in hand lettering, and lettering on cards or party decorations. In mixed-media work, add the white as the final layer over the finished area of colour. Let the ink dry completely before you rub over it or carry on working, otherwise fresh lines will smudge.
