The Faber-Castell JUMBO Grip set of 12 contains 12 extra thick watercolour pencils in 12 colours and a sharpener. The pencils have an ergonomic triangular shape with a patented Grip zone. They sit securely in the hand and do not slip away easily when you draw.

The lead has a diameter of 5.3 mm. Thanks to a special bonding process it is particularly break-resistant, and the colours wash out of most textiles. Each pencil has a name field, so they do not get mixed up at school, for example. The finish is a water-based lacquer, and the wood comes from certified forestry.

Working with watercolour pencils

You can use the pencils dry, like ordinary colouring pencils. For a watercolour effect, first draw with the pencils and then blend the colour with a damp brush. The strokes dissolve and soft gradients appear. Use sturdy paper for this, such as watercolour paper or heavy drawing paper. Thin paper soon buckles when wet. Apply the colour lightly at first, as it becomes much more intense with a wet brush.

Choosing between the set of 12 and other sets in the range

With 12 colours you have a broad basic selection and can layer and mix shades on the paper. The JUMBO Grip range also includes smaller sets of 6 or 5 pencils, as well as neon, pastel and metallic sets. The sharpener supplied is designed for the thick pencils.
