Schmincke HORADAM watercolour set, 18 half pans, metal tin in wooden box

Schmincke HORADAM watercolour set – 18 colours with golds in velvet and a wooden box

The Schmincke HORADAM watercolour set (art. no. 74886097) is a paint box with 18 watercolour paints in half pans. A compact metal tin sits embedded in velvet inside a dark wooden box. The set is intended for watercolour painting and also makes a gift for watercolour painters. The metal tin is small enough to take with you, so you can paint on the move too.

The paints are poured in four layers as liquid and bound with gum arabic. Dried paint can be re-wetted with water, so you can simply let leftover paint dry in the pan and carry on painting later. The paints are made in Germany.

Which colours are included?

The 18 colours consist of 12 colour shades and 6 golds. The selection covers yellow, red, blue, green, brown and black, so you can mix many more shades yourself. The golds let you add metallic accents.

• Colour shades: 224 Cadmium Yellow light, 213 Chrome Yellow Hue deep, 341 Geranium Red, 352 Magenta, 494 Ultramarine finest, 479 Helio Cerulean, 519 Phthalo Green, 524 May Green, 667 Raw Umber, 648 Transparent Brown, 669 Vandyke Brown, 781 Lamp Black
• Golds: 891 White Gold, 899 Light Gold, 898 Antique Gold, 897 Yellow Gold, 895 Rose Gold, 896 Red Gold

Painting with half pans

Moisten the paint with a few drops of water before painting and let it soak briefly. Then lift the colour with a wet brush and mix it on a palette or in the lid. Choose a brush whose tip fits easily into the small pan, so you can pick up paint without contaminating the neighbouring colours. Rinse the brush clean when changing colour. After painting, leave the tin open to dry before you close it.
