Schmincke HORADAM Watercolour Metal Box, 36 Half Pans

Schmincke HORADAM watercolour metal box with 36 half pans

The Schmincke HORADAM watercolour metal box is a ready-filled paint box for watercolour painting. It contains 36 shades as half pans (1/2 pans) in a metal box. Schmincke makes HORADAM watercolour paint from quality pigments in high concentration, which sets it clearly apart from the AKADEMIE quality.

With 36 shades, you can mix many colours straight from the box. There is also space in the box for 12 additional half pans. This lets you extend the assortment to up to 48 colours, for example with favourite shades you use often.

Working with the box

Dab a little water onto the pan you need with a damp brush and wait a moment until the paint has softened. Then pick up the colour with the brush and mix it on a palette with water or with other shades. For glazes, dilute the paint more; for strong tones, pick up more paint. Rinse the brush when changing colour so that the pans stay clean. After painting, leave the paints to dry with the lid open before you close the box.

Which box suits you?

The HORADAM watercolour series includes smaller metal boxes with 12 or 24 half pans, a wooden box with 48 pans and sets with tubes. The box with 36 shades sits in between: it offers a wide choice of colours and, with its free spaces, leaves room for your own additions.
