Schmincke HORADAM Watercolour Metal Tin, 12 x 5 ml Tubes

Schmincke HORADAM Watercolour Set – 12 Colours in 5 ml Tubes

The Schmincke HORADAM watercolour metal tin contains 12 watercolour paints in 5 ml tubes and suits anyone who likes to work with plenty of colour and larger areas. The paint is bound with gum arabic. Schmincke makes it with a high pigment concentration, which clearly sets it apart from student-quality paints. The colours dissolve easily, and paint that has dried on the palette can be reactivated with water.

The 12 shades range from Lemon Yellow through red, carmine, blue and green to ochre, sepia brown and ivory black. Two yellows, two blues and two greens give you a basis for mixing. The metal tin is black on the outside and white on the inside. It has a built-in mixing palette where you mix up your colours.

Working with tube paint

To begin with, squeeze only small amounts of the colours you want into the mixing palette and dilute them with water. This keeps the supply in the tubes fresh for a long time. For delicate glazes, use plenty of water and little paint; for strong tones, mix in more pigment. Dried remnants on the palette can be dissolved again later and reused. Close the tubes again straight after squeezing out the paint.

Which tin is right for you?

Tube paints are a good choice if you paint larger formats and want to mix up plenty of colour quickly. The range also includes tins with pans: a small one with 8 half pans and a water tank for painting on the go, and a larger one with 47 colours and ONETZ. This tin, by contrast, gives you 12 matched shades in a larger quantity.
