Schmincke AKADEMIE Aquarell Watercolour Paint Box, 10 Half Pans

Schmincke AKADEMIE Aquarell plastic watercolour box – 10 colours to start painting in watercolour

The Schmincke plastic box is a compact watercolour paint box holding 10 half pans of AKADEMIE Aquarell. It is intended for beginners who want to learn watercolour painting with a manageable choice of colours and mix the paints right in the box. Schmincke makes AKADEMIE Aquarell paint with a high concentration of artist-quality pigments.

Two fold-out palettes with a total of 8 mixing areas are built into the box. You also have space for 10 more half pans, so you can add your own favourite colours to the box later.

Which colours are in the box?

The box contains 222 Hellgelb zitron, 225 Indischgelb, 332 Kadmiumrotton, 333 Karmin, 443 Ultramarin, 445 Preußischblau, 553 Permanentgrün, 660 Lichter Ocker, 666 Englischrot and 665 Sepia. With the two yellows, the two reds, the two blues and the green you can mix many other shades yourself, such as violet from Karmin and Ultramarin. There is no pure black; dark tones are created by mixing, for example from Sepia and Ultramarin.

Working with the box

Moisten the pans with a little water and let the paint soften briefly. Then pick it up with a wet brush and mix it on one of the fold-out palettes. Thanks to the binder combination with natural gum arabic, the colour flow is easy to control, even on softer watercolour papers.

• Dried paint on the palette can be re-wetted with water and used again.
• The pans can be replaced once used up and are easy to release from the plastic clips.
• After painting, leave the box open to dry before closing it.
