Schmincke AQUA-Fix – medium for waterproof watercolour glazes

Schmincke AQUA-Fix is a medium for watercolour painting that increases the water resistance of your paints. You use it instead of water when painting. According to Schmincke, it prevents re-dissolving when painting in several layers and gives you more possibilities for transparent painting.

The bottle contains 60 ml. The medium dries waterproof. This is useful when you build up glazes one on top of another and do not want the colour layer underneath to dissolve again when you paint over it.

Working with AQUA-Fix

Mix your watercolour paint as usual, but use AQUA-Fix instead of water to dissolve and dilute it. Let each layer dry completely before you apply the next glaze. The colour underneath then stays in place and does not run into the new layer. Try out the effect first on a scrap of your watercolour paper.

Cleaning

As the medium dries waterproof, clean your brushes and palette thoroughly with soap and water after painting.
