UHU Special Super Glue for Plastics – quick bonding for small areas

UHU Special Super Glue for Plastics is a crystal-clear, one-component cyanoacrylate adhesive for small bonds and repairs on rigid plastics with a smooth surface. According to UHU, it bonds rigid PVC, ABS, acrylic resin (Plexiglas), polycarbonate and phenolic resin, including in combination with other materials. The bond reaches handling strength after seconds to minutes and full strength after about 12 hours.

The 3 g tube is designed for spot bonding: you apply only a little and can handle the parts again quickly. The glue is not suitable for PE, PP, silicone resins and rubbers, or PTFE.

How to bond correctly

The bond only works on clean surfaces. Proceed as follows:

• Clean the surfaces to be bonded: they must be clean, dry and grease-free.
• Apply the glue sparingly and in a thin layer; more glue does not make the bond stronger.
• Join the parts immediately and press them firmly together.
• Breathing on the bond line makes the glue cure faster; at low humidity it takes longer.
• If possible, do not put the bond under full load until after about 12 hours.

Suitable materials

The glue adheres best to rigid materials with a smooth surface, for example for small repairs to models, housings or acrylic glass parts. It is not very suitable for soft, flexible or absorbent materials. On glass and some plastics, the bond becomes brittle over time and loses strength. If you are unsure, test it first on an inconspicuous spot.

Removing residue and storing the tube

Wipe off fresh residue with acetone on a lint-free cloth, provided the material can withstand it. If larger quantities are involved, ensure good ventilation. The glue does not keep indefinitely: close the tube as tightly as possible after use and store it in a cool place, for example in the fridge.

You will also need: a lint-free cloth and acetone for removing residue (only if the material can withstand it).

Warning: cyanoacrylate. Danger. Bonds skin and eyes in seconds. Keep out of reach of children! May cause respiratory irritation. If medical advice is needed, have the product container or label at hand. Avoid breathing vapour. IF ON SKIN: Wash with plenty of water and soap. IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. Dispose of contents/container in accordance with national regulations. Contains ethyl 2-cyanoacrylate. Please observe the hazard information on the packaging! Cleaning advice: soak skin bonds in lukewarm soapy water for some time and gently peel apart without force. Then moisturise the skin.
