50 cm Steel Ruler – Rigid Metal Ruler with mm and Inch Scales

This steel ruler is a 50 cm metal ruler made of stainless steel for measuring, marking out and laying against paper, card, fabric or wood. The ruler is rigid and does not bend when you press it into place. At 50 cm long, you can measure larger formats in one go, such as drawing paper, cardboard or cut pieces.

The scale is printed in millimetres and inches. This means you can read off measurements from metric and imperial patterns directly on the same ruler. You can hang the steel ruler on a hook in the workshop or at your workstation using the hole at the end, so it is always close to hand.

Working accurately

For clean lines, how you position the ruler matters. Press the ruler firmly onto the surface with your flat hand so that it does not slip while you draw. Guide the pen close to the edge and keep it at the same angle throughout, so the line does not drift away from the edge. When reading the scale, look straight down from above so that you avoid estimation errors caused by viewing it at an angle. Also make sure you are reading the millimetre side or the inch side as intended.
