Canson “C” à grain A3 drawing pad – fine grain for dry media

The Canson “C” à grain drawing pad in A3 (297 × 420 mm) contains 30 sheets of natural white drawing paper, 224 g/m². The fine grain is neither too smooth nor too rough. You can draw delicate gradations and also create relief effects.

The paper is sized both internally and on the surface. According to Canson, this keeps it resilient even with frequent erasing or scraping, without pilling. The pad is glued along the short side, so you can detach the sheets cleanly after drawing.

What the paper is suited to

The fine grain takes pigment from pencil, charcoal, pastel, chalk and sanguine well. Certain wet techniques such as ink or gouache are also possible. The pad suits sketches as well as finished drawings in a larger format.

Tips for use

With ink or gouache, apply the paint sparingly and do a test on an edge strip first, as paper of this weight can cockle with a lot of water. Fix pastel and charcoal drawings with fixative after drawing so they do not smudge when you turn the pages. Canson “C” à grain is also available in A5 and A4 if you are looking for a handier format for smaller sketches.
