LAMY AL-star fountain pen, medium nib, black purple

LAMY AL-star fountain pen M – lightweight aluminium pen in dark purple

The LAMY AL-star fountain pen in dark purple (Lamy: black purple) is a lightweight pen with an anodised aluminium body and a medium nib (M) for everyday use at school, university and in the office. The metal clip holds it in your pocket or on your notebook. The polished steel nib writes in nib width M, a medium line width.

The grip section is made of transparent plastic and is ergonomically shaped. Through the clear material you can see the inner mechanism of the ink feed. The combination of aluminium and plastic keeps the weight low; this model weighs approx. 24 g. A blue LAMY T 10 ink cartridge is already included, so you can start writing straight away.

Changing and refilling ink

To change the cartridge, unscrew the grip section, pull out the empty cartridge and push a new T 10 firmly onto the spike until it is seated. If you prefer to use bottled ink, fit the LAMY Z 28 converter, which is designed for the AL-star. Dip the nib into the ink bottle and draw the ink up with the converter's turning knob. Then wipe the nib briefly with a cloth before you write. The converter is not included.

Choosing the right version

According to Lamy, the AL-star is available in different nib widths and also for left-handers. This pen has nib width M. It is a good middle ground for everyday handwriting on normal writing and notebook paper. If you prefer particularly small handwriting, take a look at the finer nib width that Lamy also offers.
