Prym black trouser buttons – two sizes, washable and iron-safe

With the Prym black trouser buttons (art. no. 311315) you can replace missing or torn-off buttons on trousers and sew them on in new projects. The card holds 10 buttons: 5 with a diameter of 15 mm and 5 with a diameter of 17 mm. That way you will usually find the right size for the waistband and trouser pockets.

The buttons are made of 100% polyester. According to Prym, the material is heat-resistant, and the buttons can be washed at up to 60 °C and ironed. The plain design is understated, and four sewing holes hold the button securely on the fabric.

Which size, and how to sew them on

Measure the diameter of the old button or the length of the buttonhole and choose the matching size. 15 mm suits smaller buttonholes, such as on pockets, and 17 mm suits the waistband. To sew a button on, use a doubled thread through the four holes, either crossed or parallel. Place a matchstick or a thick needle between the button and the fabric, and finally wind the thread a few times around the threads between the button and the fabric. The shank this creates leaves room for the buttonhole, and the button sits more firmly.
