You sew Prym sew-on press studs (art. no. 341169) on with needle and thread, for example as a fastening on clothing, bags or accessories. Each press stud consists of a stud and a socket made of brass. The base is crimped, which protects the fabric from sharp edges. Four holes around the edge let you sew each part on evenly and securely. In black, the studs are barely noticeable on dark fabrics.

How to sew on the press studs

One part goes on the inside of the top layer of fabric (overlap), the other on the outside of the bottom layer (underlap). Sew on one part first, then lay both layers of fabric over each other in the closed position and mark the spot for the other part. Stitch through each of the four holes several times, and on the overlap pick up only the inner layers of fabric so that no stitches show on the outside. Doubled thread makes the fixing stronger. On thin or soft fabrics, a piece of interfacing under the sewn area helps stop the fabric from tearing when the stud is opened.
