The Rico Design bib to embroider is a white bib made of 100 % cotton with an Aida border, which you decorate yourself in counted cross stitch. It measures 23 × 28 cm. The Aida band is evenly woven, so you can count the stitches and place your design neatly.

This turns a plain bib into a personal gift, for example with a name, small motifs or a cross stitch chart of your choice.

Embroidering the bib

The Aida border sets the stitch grid: you work each cross over one square of the fabric. Before you start, count the stitches in the border and plan your design to fit, so that the motif or lettering does not turn out too wide. It is best to begin in the centre of the design and work outwards. A blunt tapestry needle goes through the squares without splitting the fabric. Weave in the thread ends on the back under the stitches so that nothing bulks up or scratches.
