Madeira AVALON ULTRA – extra strong embroidery stabiliser that dissolves in water
Madeira AVALON ULTRA (art. no. 9441) is a water-soluble, transparent embroidery stabiliser for demanding machine embroidery. It is particularly stable and also supports dense or large designs. You can use it with or without an embroidery hoop, so it also suits large embroideries that will not fit in a hoop. The stabiliser is made of 100 % polyvinyl alcohol. After stitching, you wash it out with water so that only the embroidery remains.
Use AVALON ULTRA for free-motion and computerised embroidery, lace, cutwork embroidery, textile collages and for sandwich and thread techniques. The transparent structure helps you keep the template and stitching position in view. The 3 m long, 30 cm wide roll comes in a reusable storage tube with a click closure.
Using AVALON ULTRA
For lace without fabric, either hoop the stabiliser in an embroidery hoop or stitch it without a hoop. For very large designs, working without a hoop is practical. For lace, make sure the embroidery is dense and connected, because once the stabiliser has dissolved, only the embroidery thread holds the design together.
- Cut the stabiliser to size and hoop it, or use it without a hoop
- Embroider the design
- Trim away excess stabiliser close to the edge
- Wash out the remaining film in lukewarm water until only the embroidery is left
Storage
After use, slide the stabiliser back into the tube and close it with the click closure. The tube protects it from drying out, moisture and dirt. This is important because the stabiliser dissolves when it gets damp.
