Madeira COTTON FIX – self-adhesive, tear-away embroidery stabiliser for machine embroidery and patchwork
Madeira COTTON FIX (art. no. 9439) is a self-adhesive, tear-away embroidery stabiliser made of 100 % cotton, used to hold fabric in place for machine embroidery. The fabric sticks directly to the stabiliser, so you do not need to hoop it. This avoids hoop marks on delicate materials.
According to Madeira, COTTON FIX is suitable for velvet, leather, caps, collars, cuffs, knitted fabrics and jersey or T-shirts. You can also use it for hand appliqué and for transferring quilting designs. The roll measures 30 cm × 3 m and the stabiliser is white. A pack with a click closure keeps the roll together and within easy reach.
Working with COTTON FIX
Cut a piece of stabiliser to fit the embroidery area and stick the fabric onto it. Stretchy fabrics such as jersey keep their shape during embroidery because the stabiliser supports them. After embroidering, carefully tear away the excess stabiliser around the embroidery. Support the stitches with one hand as you do so, so that they do not distort.
What COTTON FIX is suited to
As you do not need to hoop the fabric, you can also embroider small cut pieces that would hardly fit in a hoop. For patchwork and appliqué, you can position small pieces of fabric precisely and fix them without pins.
