The SOFT linoleum sheet is an especially soft printing block for lino cutting and relief printing. Its soft texture makes it easier to cut than harder blocks. This helps most when you are starting out, in school lessons and for fine work in the studio.

Working with the sheet

Transfer your design to the block as a mirror image, because the print will show it reversed. Then use a gouge or V-tool to cut away all the areas that should stay white. The soft sheet gives way more easily under the tool, so you need less pressure. Always cut away from your body and keep your free hand behind the cutting direction. Then roll lino printing ink thinly onto the raised areas and print the design onto paper.
