KnitPro Punch Needle Set The Vibrant – 4 needles, 3 adaptors and bag

The KnitPro Punch Needle Set “The Vibrant” (art. no. 21001) is a tool set for punch needle work, where you stitch loops into a base fabric. The loop length is adjustable, so you get even, raised stitches for cushions, wall hangings or textile art.

You use the four needles, 2, 3, 4 and 5 mm, with one shared wooden handle in rainbow colours. The handle is ergonomically shaped and, according to KnitPro, suitable for long working sessions. The set also includes three adaptors, two needle threaders, a detailed booklet and an embroidered bag in denim blue.

Which needle for which yarn or thread?

The needle diameter determines how thick the yarn or thread can be. Thicker yarns give more textured motifs, finer threads delicate, detailed patterns. So use the 2 mm needle for fine details and the 5 mm needle for bold loops that fill larger areas. Fit the 2, 3 and 4 mm needles to the handle with the matching adaptor; the 5 mm needle needs no adaptor.

Getting started

Use the needle threader to pull the yarn through the needle. The general rules for the technique are:

• Stretch the base fabric tightly in an embroidery hoop, otherwise the loops will be uneven.
• Draw your design on the fabric beforehand.
• Push the needle in as far as the handle and pull it back without lifting the tip completely out of the fabric.
• Try out the yarn, needle and loop length on a scrap of fabric first.

Vibrant or Earthy?
