addiCraSyTrio BAMBOO Short – flexible double-pointed needles for small circumferences

The addiCraSyTrio BAMBOO Short is a set of three flexible double-pointed needles with bamboo tips, 24 cm long, for knitting socks, cuffs, gloves and baby clothes. They are designed for small circumferences, where you would otherwise work with a set of five rigid double-pointed needles.

You divide the stitches between two needles and knit them off with the third. That way you only change needles twice per round. The flexible centre section gives slightly in the hand. The tips are made of Japanese bamboo with a wax coating; they are light and feel warm to the touch. According to the manufacturer, they knit almost silently. The needles are made in Germany by Gustav Selter.

Knitting with the trio

Divide the stitches between two of the three needles and knit them off with the third. The free needle then becomes the first needle of the next round. You only change needles twice per round, which saves time and reduces the risk of stitches slipping off the tips when you switch. According to the manufacturer, the needles are particularly suited to small circumferences, such as sock legs, cuffs and glove fingers. Cables can also be knitted with them.

Which size to choose

The series is available in sizes from 2.0 to 5.0 mm. Choose the needle size to suit the yarn and the tension given in your pattern. The length of 24 cm is the same for all sizes. According to the manufacturer, each needle is 3 cm longer than on the metal addiCraSyTrio Short. If you find the bamboo tips too rough or too warm, addi also offers other tip materials.
