Bobbiny REGULAR macramé cord Ø 3.0 mm – soft cotton cord for knotting and weaving
Bobbiny REGULAR macramé cord with a diameter of 3.0 mm is a twisted cotton cord for macramé, weaving and other fibre art. According to Bobbiny, the cord is a single twist made from 56 soft strands and consists of recycled cotton. It is soft and smooth and knots well, including for fringes and tassels. Choose your colour from the options.
The spool holds 100 m of cord and weighs approx. 330 g. This lets you add up the cord lengths for your project and see before you start whether one spool is enough. The inner spool is made of recycled paper and is biodegradable. The yarn is made in Poland and is certified to OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100, including the requirements for baby articles. The composition may vary slightly depending on the colour.
What the 3 mm thickness suits
At 3 mm in diameter, the cord gives bold, clearly visible knots. That makes it a good choice for wall hangings, plant hangers, coasters or bag handles. For very fine, delicate patterns or small pieces of jewellery, a thinner cord makes more sense. Bobbiny also offers the cord in Ø 1.5 mm.
Method
Allow plenty of cord length: knotting uses up several times the finished length, and strands cut too short are hard to extend. First knot a small test piece to see how much cord your pattern needs.
- Cut the cord strands and attach them to the dowel or ring with lark's head knots
- Knot the pattern and pull the knots tight evenly
- Trim the ends to the length you want
- For fringes, comb the cord out with a comb or brush until it fans out softly
