Bobbiny macramé cord Ø 1.5 mm – soft twisted cotton cord
Bobbiny macramé cord is a twisted single-ply cord, 1.5 mm in diameter, for macramé, weaving and other fibre art. The cord is made of 28 soft fibres, is smooth and, according to Bobbiny, knots well. It is also suitable for fringes and tassels. The reel holds 100 m and weighs approx. 160 g, so you can estimate how much you need.
Bobbiny makes the cord in Poland from recycled cotton. The inner spool is made of recycled paper and is biodegradable. According to Bobbiny, the yarn is certified to OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100, including the requirements for baby products. Choose your colour from the options.
What the 1.5 mm cord is suited to
At 1.5 mm in diameter, the cord is quite fine. Use it for delicate knotwork, small wall hangings, jewellery, bookmarks or details on larger pieces. For large wall hangings or plant hangers, a thicker cord is the better choice. Bobbiny also offers the yarn in 3 mm. With a twisted cord, fine knots come out even and clear.
Working with the cord
Cut the working cords much longer than the finished piece, as knotting uses up a lot of length. It is better to allow generously, because cords that are too short are hard to extend. To stop the ends from untwisting as you work, you can wrap them with a little tape. For soft fringes, untwist the cord at the end and comb out the fibres with a fine brush or comb.
