Bobbiny Macramé Cord 5 mm – soft cotton cord for knotting
Bobbiny Macramé cord is a single twist cord, Ø 5.0 mm, made of 100% recycled cotton for macramé, weaving and other fibre art. It is made up of 112 fine strands and feels soft and smooth. This makes it easy to knot, and it sits evenly in the knotwork.
The spool holds 100 m and weighs approx. 690 g according to the manufacturer. The inner spool is made of recycled paper and is biodegradable. The yarn is certified to OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100. Choose your colour from the options.
What the 5 mm cord is used for
At 5 mm in diameter, the cord is thick enough for knots to show up clearly. It suits wall hangings, plant hangers, key rings and coasters. You can also use it as warp threads and for structure in weaving. Because the cord is single twist, you can untwist the ends and comb them out into soft fringes.
Planning the length and cutting
Knots use up a lot of cord: for patterns made of square knots you need several times the finished length. It is therefore better to cut the cords generously, as pieces that are too short are difficult to lengthen. The length of 100 m helps you estimate the amount for larger projects. Wrap a little adhesive tape around the cutting point before you cut, so the cord does not fray prematurely.
