Efco lino roller 150 mm wide – for even ink coverage in lino printing

The Efco lino roller, 150 mm wide and 30 mm in diameter, applies printing ink to lino plates and other printing blocks. The wide roller covers larger printing areas in just a few passes. The 4 mm thick rubber covering gives an even application of ink.

The frame is made of nickel-plated steel wire with rest supports, so the roller can be set down cleanly without ink getting onto the work surface. The core is plastic. The roller can be taken apart, which makes it easy to clean. It is used in schools and hobby workshops.

Inking the printing block

Put a little printing ink on a smooth plate and roll it out in several directions until a thin, even film of ink covers the roller. Then roll over the lino plate in several passes, using light, even pressure. The most common mistake is too much ink: it settles in the fine lines and the print becomes smudged. It is better to apply two thin coats than one thick one.

Cleaning and choosing a size

Clean the roller straight after printing, before the ink dries. The right cleaning agent depends on your printing ink. Because the roller can be taken apart, you can also reach the parts of the frame. For smaller printing blocks and fine detail, the narrower roller in the range, Ø 20 mm and 60 mm wide, is easier to handle. Use the 150 mm wide roller for large plates.
