Schmincke College Linocut Ink NEON, Water-Based, 75 ml

Schmincke College Lino Printing Ink NEON – bright water-based linocut ink

Schmincke College lino printing ink NEON is a water-based block printing ink in neon colours, for printing linocuts with bright accents. It belongs to the College Linol range from Schmincke. According to the manufacturer, the range is low-odour, water-based and made for an even print. That is handy when you work indoors at school, in a workshop or at home. Choose your colour from the options.

The colours in the range are lino printing inks in student quality, intended for school and teaching use. They are well suited to getting started with lino printing and to practice prints. The 75 ml tube can be dosed cleanly, so you take only as much ink as you need for one print run.

Printing with the lino ink

Put a little ink on the inking plate and roll it out thinly and evenly with the rubber roller until the roller carries a fine, even film of ink. Too much ink is the most common mistake: it runs into the recessed areas and smudges fine lines. Then ink up your cut lino plate, lay the paper on top and rub it down evenly, for example with a bone folder or the back of a spoon. Peel off the print carefully.

Mixing and cleaning

According to the manufacturer, the colours in the range mix well with one another, so you can grade the tones. Neon colours show up most clearly on light paper. As the ink is water-based, you clean the roller and plate with water. It is best to do this before the ink dries.
