LYKKE Colour Black – interchangeable circular knitting needles in 12 sizes from 3.5 to 12 mm

The LYKKE Colour circular knitting needle set in Black is an interchangeable needle set made of birch wood: 12 pairs of needle tips from 3.5 to 12 mm, plus cables in three lengths, accessories and a black needle case. You connect tips and cable to suit your project, so there is no need to buy individual circular needles any more.

The tips are engraved with both the US and the metric size, so you can read the size straight off the needle. The tips are 5 inches (127 mm) long, measured from the point to the join. This is the shorter option in the LYKKE sets: it sits compactly in the hand and suits hats, socks, sleeves, shawls and jumpers.

Assembling the needles

The tips are screwed onto the cable with a key, and the cables swivel, so they do not twist as you knit.

• Choose the tips in the size your pattern calls for and the cable in a suitable length.
• Screw both tips onto the cable and tighten them with the key.
• With a connector you join two cables into a longer one, for example for large shawls.
• With a stopper on the end of the cable, the stitches stay on the cable while your project is stored.

Which cable for which project?

The cable length determines how large a circumference you can knit in the round. For hats, sleeves and other small circumferences, use the 24" cables (60 cm); for larger pieces, the 32" cables (80 cm). The 40" cable (100 cm) suits jumpers, scarves and shawls. Because the cables and tips are separate in the set, you can work two projects in different needle sizes side by side on two cables. Check from time to time that the connection is still tight, and tighten it again with the key if necessary.
