LYKKE Indigo Double-Point Needle Set, 6 inch – Wooden DPNs in 8 Sizes

The LYKKE INDIGO Double-point Knitting Needle Set Large contains birch wood double-pointed needles for projects worked in the round: socks, hats, arm warmers and gloves. The needles are 6 inches (15.2 cm) long and have a point at each end, so you can knit in either direction. The set covers eight needle sizes from 4 to 9 mm. The sizes are marked on the needles in both US and metric, so you can tell them apart straight away when changing. A case in indigo blue keeps all the needles together.

The needles have a moderately sharp point, which suits medium to thick yarns. The birch wood is resin-impregnated and finished in blue.

Knitting with double-pointed needles

When knitting in the round, you divide the stitches between several needles and use the free needle to knit the stitches of the next one. As the needles are only 15.2 cm long, they work well for small circumferences such as socks, gloves, thumbs and the crown decreases of a hat. For larger hats or jumpers, you usually cast on with a circular needle and only switch to double-pointed needles for the decreases.

Choosing the needle size

The sizes range from 4 to 9 mm, so they are intended for thicker yarns, such as those used for hats, arm warmers, gloves and chunky wool socks. Follow the needle size given in your pattern. What matters is the tension; the needle size on the ball band is only a guide. The jumps between 6.5, 8 and 9 mm are larger than between the smaller sizes, which shows mainly in the stitch width.
