Hardicraft Bart Blowfish knitting kit – knit an amigurumi pufferfish

The Hardicraft Bart Blowfish knitting kit contains the pattern, yarn, toy stuffing and safety eyes for a knitted amigurumi pufferfish. You only need to supply the knitting needles. According to the manufacturer, the finished fish measures approx. 17 cm in diameter and is knitted on 2.5 mm needles. The pattern is by the designer Christel Krukkert.

The kit includes two 50 g balls of yarn: one in white marl for the body and one in yellow marl. The yarn is a blended yarn of the “Stonewashed” type. The marl colours give the fish a lively look without any extra colour changes.

Knitting needles are not included in the kit. The manufacturer gives a needle size of 2.5 mm, and the pattern is based on it. Stick to the needle size given in the pattern so that the fish reaches its intended size. As the kit contains the yarn in only two colours, simply follow the pattern to see where each colour goes; you do not need to buy any more yarn.

Stuffing and assembly

Insert the safety eyes before you close up and stuff the fish, as you will not be able to reach the back afterwards. Add the stuffing in small portions and press it into the curves. This keeps the pufferfish evenly round and free of dents. If you knit tightly, the stuffing shows less through the stitches.
