The Hardicraft Nora Cat knitting kit contains everything you need to knit an amigurumi cat approx. 18 cm tall: cotton yarn, safety eyes, toy stuffing and a pattern. According to the manufacturer, the kit is intended for beginners. You only need to bring your own 2.5 mm knitting needles. The cat was designed by Marijke Boone.

According to the manufacturer, the yarn is 100% cotton. The kit contains 25 g brown, 10 g turquoise and 1 m black. The amounts are matched to the cat, so you don't need to buy any more yarn and can start straight away.

What's in the kit

Besides the yarn, the kit includes safety eyes and toy stuffing, so you don't need to buy stuffing or eyes separately. The pattern comes in four languages: German, English, Dutch and French. That is handy if you would rather work from a pattern in another language or want to give the kit as a gift.

Knitting the cat

Knit following the pattern with 2.5 mm needles. For amigurumi you usually knit fairly tightly so that the stuffing doesn't show through the stitches. The safety eyes are usually fitted before you close the cat completely, because their backing washers are pushed on from the inside. It is best to add the stuffing in small portions and shape it as you go, so the head and body get even curves. The yarn amounts are calculated closely for the cat, so count stitches and rows carefully.
